Good sound is not loud sound: what to expect at an intimate wedding
There is a common belief that a better party means bigger, louder equipment. In my experience the opposite is true, especially at a smaller, more intimate wedding. Good sound is not about high volume.
Why volume is not the point
The aim is simple. The people on the dance floor should feel the music, while the people who are talking a few steps away can still hear each other. When the volume is right, both of those things are true at once. When it is too loud, you lose the conversation and tire the room out long before the night is over. The system should be matched to the venue and the number of guests, not pushed to prove a point.
What I bring
I bring a professional, reliable setup whose whole job is clean sound, clear speech and the right volume: quality active speakers, a proper mixer, a wireless microphone for speeches and the ceremony. If you would like a live touch, a singer, a guitarist or a saxophonist can connect to my mixer and play alongside the set. What I do not bring is a festival stage. Show effects such as cold spark machines, dry ice or lighting trusses are not part of what I offer, and for those a large production company is the right choice.
Lighting that supports the mood
Lighting follows the same thinking. Light should support the mood, not overpower it. For the calm, elegant moments it stays gentle, and as the party builds it becomes more dynamic. More flashing is not a better party. And if anyone among your guests is sensitive to strobe or intense flashing, for example because of migraine or epilepsy, just tell me and I will leave it out. That is a normal request, not a problem.
This is a deliberate choice on my part. I specialise in smaller, atmospheric weddings and events because that is the work I love and the work I do best. With me the emphasis is on the music, the quality of the sound and an intimate atmosphere, never on stage technology.
