A destination wedding in Cyprus is a wonderful thing, and most of the work that makes the music run smoothly happens quietly, before the day. The evening feels effortless precisely because the groundwork was done in advance.
The work before the day
My job does not start when I press the first play button. It starts with getting to know your plans: your ideas, the kind of guests you are expecting, the special requests, the songs to avoid, and the important moments of the evening. The more we talk through beforehand, the more relaxed the day itself becomes.
Coordinating with the venue
For a destination wedding there is also the venue and the organiser to coordinate with, and this part genuinely matters. Power supply, where the DJ is set up, where the speakers go, any volume limits the venue sets, how and when I can load in, and the timeline of the day all shape the result. These are things to clear up in advance, not to improvise on the day. Being based in Paphos and working across the whole island, I am used to sorting this out with local venues and planners.
There is one more thing that helps at an international wedding. Your guests often arrive from several countries, so when a moment needs an announcement I keep it short and natural, and I can do it in Hungarian, English, German or Russian, whichever suits the room. It is never a loud hosting act, just enough to guide the evening so everyone follows along.
The music on the night
The music itself follows the principles I always work by: familiar, danceable songs for a mixed crowd, your own must-play and special tracks woven in, and an evening read in real time rather than run from a fixed list. But none of that lands well without the quiet planning behind it.
